Telehealth

What is a Telehealth Consultation?

With Telehealth you can have your doctor’s appointment from the comfort of your own home.

Telehealth is a Medicare initiative that allows doctors and patients to communicate remotely using online tools like your PC and Skype. Telehealth is:

  • safer in a Covid world, and
  • time saving

You no longer need to visit the clinic to get medical advice. With telehealth you can talk with your favourite GP whenever you need to, no matter where you are. Of course, some conditions will still be better treated in person – your GP will let you know if this is the case.

Eligibility for a Telehealth Consult

The eligibility for Telehealth has recently changed. You must now have seen any GP from our practice in the last 12 months to be able to have a Telehealth appointment.

Exceptions to this rule are:

  • Infants under 12 months old
  • People experiencing homelessness
  • People residing COVID Lockdown Restrictions.

To book a telehealth appointment, follow the below instructions:

  • Book your appointment by phone and inform the Receptionist that you would like it to be via telehealth, or
  • Book Online - Select ‘Telehealth Appt’ or if booking over the phone, .

You will have the option to choose either a video call or standard phone call. If you choose video, you will receive an SMS with the link for the appointment.

The doctor will call you to start the appointment, so please be ready!

Your privacy is essential – so please find a quiet, private place to speak with the doctor.

After the appointment you can pick up

  • your prescriptions or
  • referrals from the clinic.

Alternatively, prescriptions can be sent to your local chemist.

And that’s it – anything further will be communicated by the doctor.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Dear Patients,

Please be aware that our doctors will endeavour  to keep Telehealth appointments on schedule. However, the doctor may contact you EARLIER or LATER for your Telehealth appointment.

Delays can occur, simply due to the length of time given to in-practice patient's or unprecedented emergencies.

If you believe you require an urgent discussion or review, please book an in-person appointment.
